Hello St. Matthias!

My name is Jessie Paterson, and I am your new office admin! I am very excited to be joining your community and I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming months.  

A little bit about me…

I grew up in Calgary, Alberta on Treaty 7 lands of the Blackfoot people and was raised in a United Church community. In 2015 I moved to Victoria to attend University. I love it here and have not looked back! (except to visit my family of course).  I graduated from UVic last year with a double major in Art History and Environmental Studies. During my degree, I was part of the student community at UVic’s Multifaith Centre. In 2019, I had the opportunity to take part on a student pilgrimage trip to Spain to walk a portion of the Camino Trail. (The picture I've included is one of me walking the trail in my big sun hat.) This trip was organized by the United and Anglican ministry at UVic and we received generous funding from both church communities. Walking the Camino was an amazing experience and was a wonderful introduction for me to the Anglican community in Victoria. It’s nice to have the opportunity to continue that relationship at St. Matthias.  

My hobbies include painting, illustrating, and knitting. I love flowers, bright colours and long walks – especially during these days in lockdown! 

You can find me in the church office Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to meeting you!
