Starting in Celtic Advent, St. Matthias and the Emmaus Community invite you to pause, step into the silence and move deeper.
We will be exploring a variety of prayer practices in the context of an Advent evening liturgy.
Dec 11th, we will start in the chapel with a brief discussion about pilgrimage as a prayer practice and then give space for folk to walk and pray the Advent Spiral.
"The season of Advent means there is something on the horizon the likes of which we have never seen before ... So stay. Sit. Linger. Tarry. Ponder. Wait. Behold. Wonder. There will be time enough for running. For rushing. For worrying. For pushing. For now, stay. Wait. Something is on the horizon." - Jan L. Richardson
"In the silence of a midwinter dusk, there is a sound so faint that for all you can tell it may be only the sound of the silence itself. You hold your breath to listen. You are aware of the beating of your heart. The extraordinary thing that is about to happen is matched only by the extraordinary moment just before it happens. Advent is the name of that moment." -Frederick Buechner
