The Royal Victoria Marathon is coming up on Sunday, October 8th (with Thrifty Foods Kids Run on Saturday Oct 7th).  Please follow the website links to find the Route Closure Information and Course Map to give advance notice if your route to St. Matthias on Sunday is impacted. 

Saturday, October 7th Royal Victoria 5K – 9 am and Thrifty Foods Kids Run – 10:15 am Starts and finishes at Willows Beach in Oak Bay

Sunday, October 8th Royal Victoria 8K – 7:15 am and Marathon / Half – 8 am
Starts on Menzies and finishes on BellevilleTimes for Sunday road closures are approximate but there will be runners / walkers on the roads from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Roads will re-open on a rolling schedule shortly after the last participant passes and course infrastructure is removed.


Important: No parking is allowed on the race route. Special event no parking signs will be put up in the City of Victoria and in the Municipality of Oak Bay. Cars will be towed from the course on Sunday morning starting at 1 am. We would greatly appreciate your cooperation and contribution to the event's success by parking your cars off the race route.

Saturday, October 7th – Extended complete road closures for set up, 5K, & Thrifty Foods Kids Run
0600 – 1100
Esplanade (Oak Bay)
0800 – 1000
Beach Drive – Lansdowne to Estevan (Oak Bay)
1000 – 2400
Belleville – Oswego to Government, and Menzies – Belleville to Quebec

Sunday, October 8th – Extended complete road closures for additional set up, races, & tear down
0000 – 1800
Belleville – Oswego to Government, and Menzies – Belleville to Quebec
0300 – 0900
Quebec – Oswego to Menzies
0500 – 1000
Kingston – Montreal to Menzies, and Menzies – Quebec to Superior

During the races, traffic personnel will assist you in crossing the route when it is safe.
Major controlled route crossings on Sunday are:
●across Yates at Douglas, Blanshard and Quadra – re-open by 9 am
●across Cook at Fort – re-open by 9:10 am
●across Moss at Fairfield – re-open by 9:30 am
●across Robertson at Ross/Crescent – re-open by 2 pm
●across Richmond at Fairfield – re-open by 2 pm
●across Richardson/McNeill at Foul Bay – re-open by 1:45 pm
●along Beach Dr from Margate to the hotel and golf course – re-open by 1:15 pm
